It's no secret that the holidays call for a bit more traveling than usual. In fact, our family has been on-the-go since Thanksgiving, with somewhere to drive to each week. And let's be honest—it can be a lot of work to travel with kids. You have to pack all sorts of things for all sorts of possible situations and then hope & pray that you all survive the trip. There's just so much to prepare for before you even arrive at your destination; it's almost laughable. Am I right?! Since our family tends to travel often, I wanted to share some things that work for us in terms of keeping things going smoothly.

1. Melissa & Doug Water WOW! activity pads. These are bomb, friends. They are reusable and they don't make a mess. You just fill the little pen up with water and 'paint' the pictures. Once the pages are dry, you can use them again. How cool is that?! The pack even has a little storage pocket for the pen so you can stay organized & there are plenty of themes to choose from. I have been buying this three-pack on Amazon, but I've seen them at Target, Meijer and at various children's stores. They are great as gifts or stocking stuffers. We bring these to use in the car, on flights and even at restaurants. My kids love them!

2. While I am one to try and control screen time, I am all for movies in the car. Our typical road trip is about 3-4 hours. We like leave around nap time so the kids can sleep for a bit, with an incentive to watch a movie after nap. We try to show the movie during the last half of the drive so they get the sleep that they need, and it lessens the whining for the last leg of the journey. Since we have more than one child, we like to use an extendable tablet mount holder so that both kids can see the movie. We bought this one from Amazon.

3. If you have one child or children who like to hold their own tablets, we love these headphones! They are available in many different colors and they are volume-limiting. This is a great feature for my kids because they are sensitive to loud noises. I don't ever have to worry that they will accidentally blast their ear drums, even with the audio set to the highest volume.

4. How many times are you bending down in search of a crayon that your kid has let roll off the table...again? Is it just me or is this the most annoying thing to be doing while on an airplane or at a restaurant? Fear not. Instead, splurge on these triangular crayons. Your sanity will thank you. Need I say more?

5. Young Living Essential Oils . I have spent the last year doing my research and oiling up myself + my family. Not only do these oils smell really great but they have helped our moods. I use Stress Away daily, and I bring it along with me when I travel. You can even add a few drops of it to a cotton ball & place it in the air vent of your car during long drives to create a calming environment. I also like to apply Peace & Calming on the bottom of our kids' feet before road trips. And when we are sleeping at our destination, I have their diffuser going with a few drops of lavender to support relaxation & calmness. Interested? Leave a comment or message me for more info.

Okay friends, that's a wrap. I hope you found this helpful and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas! And if you have any tips, please feel free to share; I'd love to hear them. :)
